Before You Arrive for Orientation

WELCOME TO THE UMASS AMHERST MS FIELD DEGREE!

Soon you’ll be starting your MS Field Degree. How exciting! Follow the four steps below to make sure you have everything in place before your first day at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Before you start on any of the steps below, contact your advisor. Simply send your advisor an email, Skype, WhatsApp or WeChat message to find out everything you need to know about your first day. We look forward to meeting you!

What to Do Before Starting the Program

    Prior to beginning your program at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, there will be several pre-sessional events for you to attend to help familiarize yourself with the program.

    Please check back again soon for a full list of upcoming pre-sessional events.

    Make your payment in full at least one week before you arrive to help avoid delays with enrollment.

    Before you begin, please make sure you have your acceptance letter in front of you, as you will need to refer to the information in the letter.

    Choose between two ways to submit payment for tuition and fees:

    • Flywire by Peer Transfer: Please visit UMass Amherst’s Flywire portal to complete the transfer process. Please note that you can NOT use a U.S. credit card or U.S. bank account.
    • Wire Transfer: Find the wire transfer information on your offer letter. When making the transaction, be sure to include the student’s name and birthday.

    You must pay the following balances shown below by the posted payment deadline.

    August 21, 2017: $20,000
    May 7, 2018: $25,000

    Confirm your laptop, computer and/or tablet meet our suggested technology requirements.

    Our recommendations and minimum system requirements are meant to provide general guidelines on which computer configurations work best in the UMass Amherst computing environment.
